MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer is set to take on North Georgia at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7.

The Falcons enter the game after dropping both non-conference matchups with Emmanuel College, 3-2, and Clayton State, 4-1, over the weekend. This is the first season that Montevallo started 0-2 since the 2021 Gulf South Conference Spring Championship series when the Falcons opened the unique season 0-3.

Head Coach
Bruce Dietterle's squad hopes to bounce back on Thursday evening against a 1-2 North Georgia team that fell to GSC opponents Lee and West Alabama to open the season before taking their first win of the year, 4-0, over Erskine on Sept. 5. The Nighthawks finished their 2023 campaign with a 6-10-2 record and a 2-8-2 mark in Peach Belt competition.
Series History:
Montevallo holds the advantage in the series history with a 5-3 record against UNG. UM has taken both of the last two matchups with the Falcons taking the victory in the last meeting, 2-1, on Sept. 29, 2021. Before the Falcons won in 2021, the series had gone back and forth with the host squad taking every game except for the most recent matchup.

The Falcons offense is led by a trio of goal scorers, two of which hail from Shelby County. Freshman forward
Joshua Owens scored his first career goal in Montevallo's matchup with Emmanuel College before
Michael Milliron fired a bullet of a goal during the game against Clayton State.
Julio Rojo is the third scorer for the Falcons with
Hugo Cakurda as the UM assist leader with one.
North Georgia' scoring is headlined by three goals from sophomore defender Max Garnett and a pair of goals from sophomore forward Tyler Vitelli.
