MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo volleyball team lost in the final set of a highly competitive match against the 12th ranked team in the country, Barry University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Barry finished the first set with 13 kills compared to Montevallo's 10.
- BU jumped out to a 5-2 advantage over the Falcons until kills from Macy Martin and Morgan Hoffman plus a service ace from Megan Schram tied the set up at 8-8.
- With a kill from Martin and two straight aces for Colton Thompson, the Falcons took a 11-9 lead over the Buccaneers.
- The Bucs converted 6-6 attacks to reclaim the lead at 15-13.
- Four straight points for Barry extended their lead in which they were able to finish off the Falcons.
Set 2
- Montevallo had the most kills in a set from either team with 18 in set two.
- Tied 4-4 the Falcons went on a 7-2 run highlighted by kills from Macy Martin, Allie Dishman and Alex Koontz.
- Barry was able to stop the bleeding with two kills of their own but Montevallo struck back with two straight kills from Dishman.
- BU climbed back into the match with errors from the Falcons to make it 20-20.
- Both teams traded points until 29-29 where the Falcons took their first set of the match with a kill from Macy Martin and a kill from Morgan Hoffman.
Set 3
- Both squads hit .333 during set three.
- Montevallo played clean with only three errors in the set, their lowest of the match.
- Down 21-23, Montevallo came back to take the set by winning five of the next six points capped off by two service aces from Megan Schram to put Montevallo on top.
Set 4
- Barry turned it on as they were striking an incredible .484 hit percentage in set four while only committing two errors.
- Montevallo had their most errors of the match with six.
- Colton Thompson collected eight assists in the set.
- Dishman had four kills in the set while Martin had three.
Set 5
- The finals set of the match saw the Falcons leading at 3-2 with two kills from Koontz and one from Dishman.
- Barry scored the next 10 out of 11 points to make it 4-12.
- The Bucs out-hit Montevallo .467 to .111 in the final set to down the Falcons.

The Falcons will next play tomorrow, Sept. 9 with the final two matches they will play in the UAH Invitational. Montevallo will play Anderson University at 10:00 a.m. and will finish their road trip against Trevecca Nazarene at 2:30 p.m.
