MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's basketball heads south for a matchup with in-state rival Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, Jan. 13 with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
The Falcons enter the road matchup with the fourth-best record in Gulf South Conference action with a 7-4 mark against league opponents. Montevallo has shown to play well on the road, posting a 6-1 record in such games. Head Coach

So Far This Season…
Montevallo has posted a 9-5 overall mark and a 7-4 mark in league play at the midway point of the season. The Falcons began with a 1-1 record after falling to Embry-Riddle in the season opener but then rebounded with a 77-69 win over Nova Southeastern in early November. Montevallo returned home for a 27-point win over Birmingham-Southern in the home opener. UM then grabbed a pair of road wins in the first weekend of conference play with wins over Alabama Huntsville and West Alabama. The Falcons moved to 3-0 in league play with a 66-57 win over Shorter at home before dropping a matchup with Lee on Dec. 3. Montevallo grabbed another set of road wins with a 10-point victory over Mississippi College before capping the road trip with a 55-53 win at Delta State. For the first time this season, Montevallo dropped back-to-back contests at the hands of West Georgia and Union. UM then took a 59-43 win over Christian Brothers to start the 2024 calendar before heading to West Florida for a 70-67 win over the Argos. Most recently, Montevallo fell to Valdosta State, 87-51, on Jan. 8.
Montevallo is the top ranked free throw shooting team in the league with a 76.2 percent mark from the stripe. The Falcons mark from the line ranks 28th among national leaders.
The Falcons are at the top of the league with a conference low 12.6 turnovers per game which ranks 8th nationally.
Montevallo ranks fifth in the GSC with an average of 13.3 assists per game. The Falcons' 1.05 assist to turnover ratio is second in the league behind Union (1.22).

AUM holds a 7-7 record overall and a 5-5 mark in the GSC coming into the contest. The Warhawks opened the season with a 1-1 record after defeating Nova Southeastern before falling to Embry-Riddle. In its home opener, AUM defeated Arkansas Monticello before falling to Lander on Nov. 22. AUM opened the GSC schedule with a loss to West Georgia on Nov. 25 before taking a home matchup with Alabama Huntsville, 72-53, to kick off a three-game win streak. The Warhawks topped West Alabama, 72-56, on the road before defeating Shorter, 80-72, at home. In a two-game stretch in Mississippi, AUM earned a 1-1 record with a win over Mississippi College and a loss to Delta State. AUM dropped a game to Lee on Dec. 15 before defeating Christian Brothers on New Year's Eve. The Warhawks dropped back-to-back games against ranked opponents against No. 6 Union and No. 23 Valdosta State.
AUM's offense ranks seventh in the GSC with a 64.3 points per game average while allowing its opponents to score 65.7 per contest for a seventh ranked scoring margin of -1.4. The Warhawks are also seventh in the league with a 40.6 percent shooting mark with its opposition knocking down 43.7 percent of field goal attempts. AUM is one of the top free throw shooting teams in the conference with a 73.7 percent mark from the stripe. The Falcons and Warhawks are tied for fifth in the GSC with an average of 35.1 rebounds per game while AUM ranks second with 13.7 offensive rebounds per game.
AUM's Allasha Dudley is the third-highest scoring player in the Gulf South with an average of 16.2 points per game on a fourth-best 38.7 percent from the floor. Tian Addison is the only other Warhawk with a double-digit scoring mark at 10.8 points per contest. AUM's leading rebounder Danielle Luckey ranks at the top of the league with 8.8 boards per contest.
Series History Against AUM:
Since 1987, the two sides have faced off 43 times with AUM holding the advantage over Montevallo with a 26-17 record in the series. Historically, the Falcons have struggled against AUM with a 10-12 record in Montgomery. More recently, the Falcons have posted a 5-1 record in the last six matchups with five-consecutive victories over the in-state rival. A season ago, Montevallo took both matchups with the most recent coming in a 79-83 Montevallo victory on Feb. 25, 2023.

Cali Smallwood comes in just behind Grimes with a 11.4 point per game average while Snodgrass ranks third with an 11.0 average. Smallwood is the team's leading rebounder with an average of 6.6 boards per game.
