Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's basketball team earned its second-straight road win, 86-78, Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama, over in-state rival AUM.
Following the first road win of the season Monday in Valdosta, Georgia, the Falcons picked up right where they left off, defeating the Warhawks on the road to close out the week.
The Falcons were led by a trio of 20-plus point scorers in the win, as
Jack Henderson led the way with a season-high 26 points. Cam Glover added in 25 while
Brandon Fussell chipped in 22. A career-day on the boards by
Aidan Gardiner aided UM as the junior recorded his first double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Montevallo took a commanding lead in the first half, 32-16 at the 6:51 mark, behind a quartet of Henderson three-pointers. A 13-3 run in response by the Warhawks made it a six-point game, 35-29. A quick slurry of threes, once again from Henderson, pushed Montevallo back to a double-digit advantage, 41-31, with 1:36 to play in the half. UM led 43-31 at the break. The Albuquerque, New Mexico native finished the first half with 21 points and went 7-of-9 for three in the first half.
An early 7-2 run to begin the second half pushed UM in front by 15, 48-33, following a free-throw from Glover. With 12:19 remaining in the game, AUM trimmed the lead to one-point 50-49, but a 6-0 run in response pushed UM ahead by seven 56-49. With a Gardiner free-throw at the 3:36 mark, Montevallo built its lead to 14. The Falcons would hold on, winning 86-78.
