MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's swimming teams are set to compete in their final regular season meet against Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11:00 a.m.
 
Both teams squared off on Nov. 4 where the Montevallo men defeated the Panthers by a score of 183-78 while the Montevallo women took care of BSC 143-119. Montevallo was able to set six pool records while they won 22 different events.
 
In Montevallo's previous meet, the men defeated Delta State for the first time in program history. Both the men's and women's teams have not competed since due to inclement weather.
 
Montevallo Men
The men are coming off a historic showing where they took down the Statesmen 132-130. Against Birmingham-Southern, the Falcons are 5-4 and have won the past two meets.
 
Aleksei Kolesnikov won two events as he swam a time of 1:58.18 in the 200-yard Fly and also won in the 100-yard Fly with a time of 51.85. Kolesnikov was a part of the tandem that won first-place in the 200-yard Medley Relay.
 
The Birmingham-Southern men have not competed since Nov. 19 where they took first-place at the Gail Pebworth Invitational with 907 points. BSC earned five, first-place finishes and 18 total podium finishes.
 
Montevallo Women
The women are back in the win column against Birmingham-Southern as they scored their second highest point total against the Panthers in their matchup history (143).
 
Hanna Persson had a top finish for the Falcons against Delta State where she was runner-up in the 100-yard Breast with a time of 33.66. Beth Balent also had a second-place finish as she swam a time of 30.64 in the 200-yard Fly.
 
The Panthers have also not competed since Nov. 19 as they took fourth at the Gail Pebworth Invitational with 779.5 total points. BSC had one, first-place finish and came away with four podium finishes at the invitational.
