MONTEVALLO, Ala. – For the second time this season, Montevallo women's basketball is set to take on Alabama Huntsville on Wednesday, Jan. 24 for the annual Pack the SAC game at 5:30 p.m.
The Falcons enter the second edition of the cross-state rivalry with an 11-6 record overall and a 9-5 mark in conference play. Montevallo now sits at third in the league table behind Union and Valdosta State who each have just one conference loss on the season.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons began the season with a 2-1 record in non-conference play after defeating Nova Southeastern in the annual Gulf South-Sunshine State Crossover Classic and taking a win over Birmingham Southern in the 2023-24 home opener. UM kicked off the conference schedule with a pair of road wins over in-state rivals West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville in late November. In the first GSC game in Montevallo, Ala., the Falcons knocked off Shorter, 66-57, before falling to Lee on Dec. 3. The Falcons then went on to take two more road wins at Mississippi College and Delta State. For the first time this season, the Falcons fell in back-to-back games against West Georgia and Union. Montevallo bounced back with a pair of wins over Christian Brothers and West Florida to begin the new year. The Falcons fell to No. 23 Valdosta State on Jan. 8 before dropping a game against Auburn Montgomery on Jan. 13. On Jan. 17, Montevallo took a 15-point victory over West Alabama before defeating West Georgia on a buzzer-beater in the Falcons most recent outing.
Montevallo ranks at the top of the GSC with a 76.9 percent free throw shooting mark. The Falcons take care of the ball with a league-best 13.0 turnovers per game while dishing out 13.1 assists per game (fifth). Montevallo turns opponents over with a third-highest steals per game mark at 8.7.

The Chargers enter Wednesday night's matchup as the No. 10 team in the GSC with a 5-8 record in conference play and a 6-10 mark overall. UAH opened the season with an upset win over No. 3 Tampa on Nov. 11 after falling to Florida Southern in the season opener. The Chargers closed non-conference competition with a tight loss to Trevecca Nazarene on Nov. 15. The Falcons and Chargers faced off in each of the squads' conference openers in a 78-67 Falcon victory. UAH dropped a game to Auburn Montgomery on the road before returning home for a 10-point win over West Alabama on Dec. 3. The Charger fell to Lee before going on a three-game win streak with victories over Shorter, Delta State and Mississippi College in mid-December. UAH dropped another matchup to West Georgia before opening in the new year with a 63-50 win over Christian Brothers. UAH is currently on a four-game skid with losses to Union, Valdosta State, West Florida and most recently Auburn Montgomery.
The Chargers' offense averages 59.4 points per game while allowing opponents to score 64.9 points per contest for a -5.4-point scoring margin which ranks ninth in the league. Though UAH scores low offensively, the Chargers' offense is efficient in its shooting with a fourth-best 42.7 percent shooting mark.
Junior guard Jesse Jennings leads the Chargers' attack with an 11.2-point per game average on an efficient 50.5 percent shooting clip to go along with 3.3 boards per game. On the glass, Bella White leads UAH with an average of 6.6 per game which ranks fifth among conference leaders.

th time, Montevallo and Alabama Huntsville will meet on the hardwood with UAH holding the all-time advantage with a 38-36 record against the Falcons. Since Montevallo rejoined the GSC following the 2016-17 season, the Falcons have posted an 8-5 record against UAH. Over the course of the last three seasons, Montevallo holds a 4-1 record over the Chargers with Montevallo's most recent win coming in the form of a 78-67 win on Nov. 25.

Cali Smallwood with an 11.6 points per game mark on a 39.2-percent shooting clip. The freshman is also the squad's leading rebounder with a 6.2-board average. Montevallo also boasts two more double-digit scorers with
Marisa Snodgrass scoring 11.0 points per game and
Isabel Grimes who averages 10.9 points per contest. Snodgrass is one of the league's top assisters with an average of 4.8 per game (second) while posting a league-best 2.79 assist to turnover ratio. Snodgrass is also the league's best with a 2.82 steals per game average.
