Falcons Set for Saturday Matchup with Lee

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo returns to the road this week with a trip to Cleveland, Tennessee, on Saturday to face Lee.
 
The Falcons enter the weekend on a two-game losing skid and are 7-12 overall and 6-9 in the Gulf South Conference.
 
UM, who sits in ninth place in the conference standings with nine games to go, dropped a previous meeting this season with the Flames on Dec. 3, 90-80, in Montevallo.
 
Before the two-game losing skid, the Falcons turned in three consecutive victories, including two on the road.
 
Junior Cam Glover leads the Falcons in scoring with 16.3 points per game and has scored in double-figures in each of the last 16 games.
 
Freshman Brandon Fussell is the reigning GSC Freshman of the Week as he averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists last week. In the loss to UAH on Wednesday Fussell added 12 points.
 
Over the last three games, the Falcons have featured a different leading scorer. Beginning with the home win over West Alabama, Fussell added 27 points. Next, On the road against West Georgia, Glover totaled a career-high 32. Last time out, Jack Henderson took control and led UM with 26, tying his season high.
 
Montevallo will meet a Lee squad that is currently tied for third in the GSC at 9-5 and is 12-5 overall, on Saturday. The Flames are on a three-game win streak and boast a 7-3 record at home.
 
Lee's Beyuan Hendricks highlights a quartet of double-digit scorers for the Flames with 16.4 points per game. He also is the league's leader in assists at 6.0 per game and is the reigning GSC Player of the Week.

GAME NOTES
 
  • Montevallo has not lost three in a row since Dec. 10 at Delta State. Since that loss, the Falcons recorded six of their seven total wins on the year.
  • Montevallo has featured four players cross the 30-point mark this season with Glover notching 32 most recently against West Georgia.
  • Montevallo remains a top-three offensive team in the league at 80.9 points per game, but has yet to score 80 or more since Jan. 13 at AUM, despite two wins since.
  • Montevallo continues to hit from long range with 204 three-pointers on the year. The Falcons added 10 against UAH last time out but sit just behind the Chargers for the league lead.
  • Turnovers have both helped and hurt UM this season. The Falcons are second in the GSC with 16.7 turnovers forced per game but are committing a league-high 16.8

Montevallo is 1-12 against Lee all-time and 0-5 on the road in Cleveland, Tennessee. UM's lone win in the series was on Jan. 6, 2018, in Montevallo following UM's return to the Gulf South conference. Lee has won ten consecutive meetings since then, including a 90-80 win in Montevallo on Dec. 3, 2023.
