MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo women's basketball's Cali Smallwood and men's swim's Aleksei Kolesnikov have been named Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of Jan. 8.
 
Cali Smallwood (Women's Basketball)
Freshman guard Cali Smallwood averaged a double-double over the last three games, helping the Falcons to two conference wins. Against Union, Smallwood had a double-double, scoring 12 points, shooting .375 from three, and grabbing 10 rebounds. She added four assists, one steal and one block. Against Christian Brothers, she had 11 points and 14 boards, adding her second double-double for the weekend. She had two career highs in this game with 14 rebounds and three steals. Against West Florida Smallwood had an efficient 11 points, shooting .556 from the field, and added seven rebounds.
 
Aleksei Kolesnikov (Men's Swim)
Sophomore Aleksei Kolesnikov was an integral part in the Falcon's big win against Delta State. He totaled four first places, including two individual events and two relays. In the 100y and 200y fly, Kolesnikov finished first with a time of 51.85 and 1:58.18 respectively securing first place for himself. He added to the 200y free relay, and 200y medley relay, helping secure times of 1:27.56 and 1:33.91 respectively. These first place efforts put the Falcons ahead of Delta State 132 to 130.
