Falcons Close Road Trip With Two Games in Tennessee

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer heads out to finish the second half of a four-game road trip with matchups against Christian Brothers and Union.
 
So Far This Season…
The Falcons head into the week's matchups with a 5-1-1 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the Gulf South Conference slate. UM opened the season with a 1-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan before dropping a game to McKendree on Sept. 5. Montevallo held No. 9 Catawba scoreless for a draw on Sept. 14 before opening conference play. The Falcons dominated Auburn Montgomery 6-2 during the annual Sea of Purple game before taking down Valdosta State, 3-1, on Sept. 21. In the first of a four-game road trip, Montevallo took a 1-0 win over West Alabama before earning a 2-1 win over Alabama Huntsville in the Falcons' most recent outing. The Falcons last two wins have boosted Montevallo from sixth in the United Soccer Coaches South Region Rankings all the way up to fourth.
 
The Falcons rank second in the GSC with a total of 15 goals through the first month of the season. UM's total of 12 assists is the most by any GSC team this season. Montevallo also ranks second in the league with a total of 44 corners while also recording a GSC second-best 108 total shots. Montevallo's defense has held its opponents to just seven goals for the third best goals against average in the GSC at 1.000. Defensively, the Falcons have held opponents to just 56 shots with 25 of those on target.
 
Individually, Montevallo is led by Isabel Dillehay with a total of five goals on the season, all of which came in the last four games. Dillehay also leads the team with a pair of game-winning goals in the last two games. Senior midfielder Rilee Bradbury and sophomore Raylene Alcaraz lead the team with three assists each while Bradbury's seven points rank second on the squad. In the net, Emily Hounsell has held opponents to an average of 1.00 goals per game with a total of 17 saves while recording a trio of clean sheets this season.

The Lady Bucs have struggled in the early going with an 0-5 overall record and an 0-2 mark in GSC play. CBU opened the season with a loss to Tampa before falling to Eckerd on Sept. 7. The Lady Bucs scored their first goals of the season in a 3-2 loss at Ouachita Baptist on Sept. 14. To start conference play, CBU dropped a road contest to Union, 3-0, before falling to Mississippi College, 2-0, on Sept. 29.
 
CBU has been outscored 19-2 through the first five games of 2024 with just 42 total shots and 16 shots on goal. The Lady Bucs opponents have taken a total of 95 shots with 49 of those on goal. CBU allow an average of eight corners per game while the goalkeepers have tallied 30 saves on the season.
 
Ana Dutra and Alexa Franklin are the lone goal scorers for CBU and lead the team with two points apiece. Dutra is the team's leader with 13 total shots while the pair have each taken four shots on goal. In the goal, Kaylee Allen and Gemma Crowe have split time with Allen playing 270 minutes with a total of 20 saves on 67 shots faced while Crowe has played 180 minutes with nine saves on 28 shots faced.
 
Series History Against Christian Brothers:
The Falcons hold a slight edge over GSC counterpart CBU with a 13-10-3 overall record since the series began in 1995. In nearly 30 years of competition, the Falcons have not more than three games against the Lady Bucs in a row. Since Montevallo rejoined the GSC, the Falcons are 5-1-2 with wins in 2015, a pair of wins in 2019 and wins in each of the last two seasons. Most recently, Montevallo took a 2-0 win over CBU on the road back on Oct. 22, 2023.
 
Scouting Union: WATCH | LIVE STATS
Union heads into Saturday's matchup with a 2-2-2 overall record and a 1-0-2 mark in conference action. The Lady Bulldogs season opened with a 3-1 win over Harding on the road before dropping back-to-back games at Carson-Newman and McKendree. Union began GSC play with a 3-0 win over Christian Brothers before drawing with No. 20 Mississippi College, 2-2, on Sept. 27. Most recently, Union took another 2-2 draw on the road against Delta State on Sept. 30.
 
Union's attack has scored 11 goals on the season while allowing opponents to score 11 goals. The Lady Bulldogs hold a .541 shot on goal mark with 33 shots on goal on 61 total shots. Their opponents average a .494 shot on goal percentage with a total of 40 shots on goal with 81 total shots. Union has assisted on 10 of its 11 goals this season while allowing nine assists from opponents.
 
Individually, Rebekah Jackson leads the attack with four goals and two assists for a GSC leading 10 points. Madison Woolridge ranks second on the squad with four points on a pair of goals, both of which were game winners. Lucia Revuelto leads the team in assists with a total of six while adding a goal for eight points through six games. In the goal, Kirsten LaVallee has played 536:40 with all 27 Bulldog saves on 81 shots faced. The senior goalkeeper has also tallied a clean sheet.
 
Series History Against Union:
Montevallo has dominated the short-lived series against Union with a perfect 8-0-0 record. The Falcons largest margin of victory came on March 18, 2021, with a 5-0 win over the Lady Bulldogs. A season ago, Montevallo won both matchups against Union including a 1-0 win in the first round of the GSC Tournament on Nov. 4, 2023.
