MOBILE, Ala. – The Montevallo men's soccer team closed the weekend with a 2-0 loss to Spring Hill on Sunday afternoon.
Spring Hill earned the first shot and shot on goal of the contest.
Tomas Valles Gilbert would record his first save of the afternoon in the 12
th minute, keeping the Badgers off the board. The Falcons began to control the possession and fired its first shot in the 21
st minute which came off the foot of
Alex Errasti.
Cristobal Porter finally recorded the first Falcon shot on goal in the 29
th minute.
Hugo Cakurda provided the only other shot on goal for the Falcons in the 42
nd minute.
The Badgers struck first late in the first half, scoring a goal in the 44
th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Montevallo looked to respond early in the second half, earning three free kicks in the first ten minutes. Porter recorded the first shot of the second half for either squad, which came off the third free kick in the 55
th minute.
Spring Hill began to push offensively, recording three shots on goal in the next three minutes, all saved by Valles. The Badgers ultimately found the back of the net again in the 71
st minute to extend the SHC advantage to 2-0.
Montevallo looked to respond with a late goal in the 88
th minute, but it was ultimately waved off due to an offside penalty. The Falcons were unable to respond in the closing minutes, dropping the contest to Spring Hill 2-0.
