MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's soccer team fell to #21 Auburn Montgomery 3-0 on Friday night.
The Warhawks jumped ahead early with a goal in the eighth minute, taking a 1-0 lead. AUM continued to control the game in the first half, limiting the Falcons to just one shot attempt. Montevallo's only shot of the half came off the foot of
Joshua Owens in the 15
th minute.
Tomas Valles Gilbert recorded four saves throughout the rest of the half, keeping the deficit at one goal at the break.
Valles continued to hold strong in goal, tallying three saves in the first 15 minutes of the second half. After another Valles save in the 67
th minute, the Warhawks found the back of the net a minute later, extending the lead to 2-0.
Montevallo looked to respond, as
Hugo Cakurda fired the first UM shot on goal of the game in the 73
rd minute.
AUM added one more goal in the 76', extending the Warhawk lead to 3-0.
Montevallo looked to push late as
Cristobal Porter fired three shots and
Nick Morrow tallied one, but the Falcons were unable to find the back of the net, as AUM took home the 3-0 victory.
