MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer heads into the final stint of Gulf South Conference play with home matchups against Lee and Trevecca Nazarene on Oct. 16 and 19, respectively.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo sits atop the GSC standings with an 8-2-1 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference play. The Falcons opened the season with a 1-1-1 record in non-conference action with a win over Kentucky Wesleyan and a draw with No. 9 Catawba on Sept. 14. Montevallo went into GSC action with a dominant 6-2 win over Auburn Montgomery before adding a 3-1 win over Valdosta State on Sept. 21. The Falcons added the first road wins of the season with back-to-back wins over West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville. Montevallo went on to add a fourth shutout of the season with a 5-0 win against Christian Brothers on Oct. 2. Montevallo suffered its first conference loss of the season after falling to Union, 1-0, in the final minute. Last week, Montevallo held Mississippi College to just five shots in a 2-0 win before taking down Delta State, 1-0, on Senior Day.
The Falcons rank first in the conference with a total of 23 goals while allowing opponents to score just eight goals through 11 games. The Falcons' opponent scoring average of .73 goals per game is the second lowest by any GSC defense. Montevallo's attack leads the league with 66 total points on 23 goals with another GSC-best 20 assists. Defensively, Montevallo leads the conference with a total of six clean sheets and a third-best save percentage of .789.
Individually,
Isabel Dillehay leads the GSC with six total goals while adding two assists for a total of 14 points.
Shadia Valenzuela has tallied five goals on the season to rank second on the team and second in the league.
Morgan Goehring ranks third on the squad with seven points on three goals and four assists. In the net,
Emily Hounsell has proven to be a top GSC goalkeeper with just eight goals allowed on 97 shots faced while leading the conference with a total of six shutouts.
Scouting Lee: WATCH | LIVE STATS
Lee enters Wednesday's matchup with a 3-3-4 overall record and a 3-1-2 mark in conference play. Lee posted an 0-2-2 record in the nonconference with draws against Eckerd and No. 3 Lenior Rhyne and losses to Tampa and Lander on the road. Lee opened GSC play with a 3-0 win over West Alabama before drawing with Alabama Huntsville, 1-1, on Sept. 22. The Lady Flames went on the road for a 1-0 win over Auburn Montgomery before adding a 3-0 win over Spring Hill at home. Lee took its first conference loss against No. 15 West Florida before drawing 1-1 on the road at Trevecca Nazarene on Oct. 11.
Lee's attack averages 1.00 goals per game with a total of 10 goals on the season while allowing opponents to score 10 goals through 10 games. The Lady Flames allowed opponents to take 9.9 shots per game with an average of 5.2 shots on frame through 10 games. Lee ranks third in the GSC with four shutouts on the season while adding a .804 save percentage that ranks second among GSC leaders.
Individually, Lee is led by Grace Berry with a total of three goals on the season while adding an assist for seven points. Isabella Valentine and Jordan Blair add two goals each while Valentine is responsible for an assist on the season. Abby Whitcomb has played all 10 games for the Lady Flames in the net with just 10 goals allowed on 99 shots faced.
Series History Against Lee:
The Falcons and Lady Flames are dead even in the all-time series with a 5-5-1 record between the two. The Falcons took a hot start to the series with four wins in the first five games before Lee took back-to-back wins in 2021. Montevallo took its last win of the series on Oct. 14, 2022, with a 2-1 win at home. A season ago, the two sides tied during the regular season before Lee ended Montevallo's postseason with a 3-0 win in the 2023 GSC Championship game.

Trevecca enters the weekend with a 2-4-3 overall record and a 1-2-3 mark in their first season as a GSC member. The Trojans struggled in the non-conference slate with a 1-2 record after topping Young Harris in the season opener and taking losses from Kentucky Wesleyan and Carson Newman. TNU opened their first GSC season with a loss to Alabama Huntsville on the road before drawing with West Alabama, 2-2, at home. The Trojans took the first GSC win in school history with a 4-2 win over Auburn Montgomery on Sept. 29. TNU drew with No. 15 West Florida, 1-1, at home before falling to Spring Hill, 2-1, on Oct. 6. Most recently, Trevecca tied with Lee, 1-1, on Oct. 11.
Trevecca's attack has tallied 11 goals on the season on 88 shots with 38 shots on goal while allowing its opponents to score 12 goals on 124 shots with 54 shots on frame. The Trojans have added eight assists on the season while giving up 11 assists to opponents. As a team, TNU holds a .765 save percentage on 124 shots faced with one clean sheet on the season.
Skye Baun leads the Trevecca attack with four goals as the only Trojan with more than on goal on the season. Isabel Felger leads the team's assisters with two assists on the year. In the net, Baillie Fiore has carried the load with 711 minutes played while allowing 1.39 goals per game with 30 saves and just 11 goals allowed.
Series History Against Trevecca Nazarene:
The Falcons have only faced Trevecca three times in the past with a 2-0-1 record against the new GSC foe. The series began with a 0-0 draw before Montevallo took a 3-0 win on Feb. 6, 2021. Most recently, Montevallo added a 4-1 win on the road on Sept. 2, 2023.
