Falcons Cruise to 5-0 win over Union on Senior Day

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Five different goal scorers and a clean sheet by Andre Etcheverry led Montevallo to a dominant 5-0 win over Union on Senior Night.

Montevallo opened the game on the attack, as Cristobal Porter fired the first shot on goal, less than two minutes in. Union fired a pair of shots, but the Falcons would respond with the next five shots (two on goal), before finally scoring. Mark Shoebridge found Joshua Owens who scored his second goal of the season to put Montevallo ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute.

Montevallo continued to attack, firing the next three shots of the game. Union earned its first shot on goal in the 21st minute, but Andre Etcheverry recorded his first save of the night to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Etcheverry tallied two more saves in the 39th minute to keep the Falcons ahead 1-0 going into halftime.

Etcheverry recorded his fourth save of the night in the second half, stopping a Union shot on goal attempt in the 52nd minute.

Montevallo responded with a shot on goal that ended up finding the back of the net in the 55th minute. Will Mashburn picked up his first assist as a Falcon, as he found Hugo Cakurda who scored his third goal of the season, putting the Falcons ahead 2-0.

Union looked to respond with another shot on goal, but Etcheverry would record his fifth and final save of the game leading to a clean sheet in his first career game.

UM added another goal in the 68th minute, as Seth Acton found Dominic Kienzle who scored his first goal as a Falcon. Acton continued to be solid down the field, this time finding Theodor Frach who notched his first career goal in the 78th minute.

The firsts continued for Montevallo, as the fifth goal of the night came courtesy of a first career goal by Matt Sheahan and first career assist from Karim Salome.

The Falcons held strong in the final minutes to preserve the dominant 5-0 win over Union on Senior Night and improve 6-5-2 on the season and 4-4 in GSC play.
