MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer moved to 8-2 in conference play with a dominant 3-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons looked to strike early with an
Isabel Dillehay shot on goal in the second minute. In the ninth minute,
Morgan Goehring found a running
Lainey Farabaugh who gave the Falcons and early 1-0 lead. Goehring nearly added a goal just three minutes later but was turned aside by the TNU keeper. Montevallo held the Trojans without a shot until the 35
th minute when Trevecca missed the mark. Freshman midfielder
Preslee Malavenda recorded her first points of the season with an assist on
Shadia Valenzuela's goal in the 43
rd minute that gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead heading into the half.
In the 54
th minute, sophomore defender
Tessa Harrington took a corner that would have been a goal if not for the crossbar. Just three minutes later,
Summer Burress searched for her first goal of the season but missed out left. Trevecca's second shot of the game came in the 72
nd minute before freshman
Katelynn Kott extended Montevallo's lead off a freekick from
Rilee Bradbury in the 74
th minute. Montevallo nearly added a fourth goal with shots from Harrington, Farabaugh and Goehring in the final minute but three TNU saves gave Montevallo a 3-0 win over the Trojans.
