Women's Soccer Heads to Clayton State for Final Road Game

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer goes on its final road trip of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon to take on Clayton State at 2:30 p.m.
 
So Far This Season…
The Falcons head into the contest with a 10-3-2 overall record and a 9-2-1 mark in conference play. Montevallo opened the season with 1-1-1 record in the non-conference slate with a win over Kentucky Wesleyan and a draw with No. 9 Catawba. UM kicked off the Gulf South Conference schedule with a 6-2 win over Auburn Montgomery before adding a 3-1 win over Valdosta State on Sept. 21. The Falcons went on to take down West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville on the road. Montevallo capped a six-game unbeaten streak with a 5-0 win on the road at Christian Brothers. The Falcons suffered the first conference loss of the season at Union in a 1-0 loss on Oct. 5. Montevallo returned to the win column with a 2-0 win over Mississippi College before adding a 1-0 win over Delta State on Senior Day on Oct.12. The Falcons dropped just the third game this season in a 1-0 loss to Lee on Oct .16. Montevallo added a 3-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene before drawing with No. 8 West Florida on the road on Oct. 23. Most recently, Montevallo defeated Spring Hill, 1-0, in the final GSC match of the season on Oct. 26.
 
Montevallo ranks second in the GSC with a total of 28 goals on the season for an average of 1.87 goals per game. Montevallo's three penalty goals are also the second most in the GSC while taking the second-most corners with 94 on the season. The Falcons' 24 assists are tied for the most in the conference. Defensively, Montevallo has allowed just 10 goals on the season for an opponent scoring average of .67 goals per game. Montevallo's defense is tied for the most shutouts of any GSC team with eight in 2024.
 
Individually, Isabel Dillehay leads Montevallo with a GSC second-ranked seven goals while adding a pair of assists for a total of 16 points. Shadia Valenzuela ranks second on the squad with a total of six goals while Lainey Farabaugh ranks third with five goals. Farabaugh leads the GSC with four game-winning goals. Montevallo's Morgan Goehring is tied for third in the GSC with five assists on the season with Rilee Bradbury and Raylene Alacaraz ranking fourth with four assists each. In the net, Emily Hounsell leads the league with eight shutouts while allowing just .67 goals per game.

Clayton State enters Wednesday's contest with a 7-2-5 overall record with a 2-2-4 mark in Peach Belt Conference action. The Lakers opened 2024 with a 4-0-1 record in the non-conference schedule with wins over Delta State, AUM, and UWA while tying with Rollins on Sept. 15. Clayton State opened the conference schedule with a dominant 11-0 win over Albany State before adding a 2-0 win over Georgia Southwestern. The second tie of the season came on Oct. 2 with a 0-0 draw against Georgia College. The Lakers went on to beat Shorter, 1-0, before another draw with Lander on Oct.12. The Lakers first conference loss of the season on the road at No. 3 Columbus State before drawing with Flagler, 1-1, on Oct. 19. CSU fell for the second time this season in a 3-0 loss to North Georgia. Most recently, CSU drew with USC-Beaufort, 2-2, on Oct. 26.
Clayton State averages 2.50 goals per game on a total of 35 goals this season which ranks fourth in the PBC. The Lakers have assisted on a PBC third-best 31 goals in 2024 for an average of 2.2 assists per game. CSU fires a total of 15.64 shots per game with an average of 8.43 shots on goal per contest. Defensively, Clayton State has allowed just 12 goals this season for an average of .86 goals allowed per game. CSU leads the Peach Belt with a .829 save percentage on an average of 4.14 saves per game with a total of six shutouts on the season.
 
Carrie Consolino leads the Lakers with 16 goals on the season while adding four assists for a total of 36 points. Amiah Sprunger-Hightower ranks second on the squad with 10 goals and five assists for a total of 25 points. In the net, Trinity Chastain has played 13 games with 13 starts for a total of 1,125 minutes. Chastain has allowed just 11 goals on 146 shots faced and 56 saves for a .836 save percentage and a total of 5 shutouts.
 
 
Series History Against Clayton State:
Clayton State leads the all-time series with an 12-8-3 record against the Falcons. From 2014-2018, Montevallo went on an eight-game winless streak with three draws during the Falcons' stint in the Peach Belt Conference. More recently, Montevallo has won the last two meetings between these teams with a 4-0 win on Sept. 21, 2021, before adding a 1-0 win on Sept. 2, 2022.
