MONTEVALLO, Ala. – A pair of late second half goals helped Montevallo Men's Soccer capture a 3-1 victory over Alabama Huntsville on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams were unable to build sustained momentum on the offensive side early on, as the first shot of the game for either team came in the 13
th minute. This shot (on goal) came off the foot of UM's
Branko Buljan Ivelich. UAH was successful on its first shot on goal, as the Chargers scored off a corner kick in the 19
th minute.

Cristobal Porter who scored his fourth goal of the season to even the score at one.
The Chargers looked to respond late in the half, firing a pair of shots on goal in the 42' and 44', but
Tomas Valles Gilbert would earn his first two saves of the day to keep the score tied going into halftime. UAH held a slight 5-4 advantage in shots and a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal through the first 45 minutes.
UAH continued to attack at the beginning of the second half with two shots on goal in the first eight minutes. A team save and third save by Valles would deny the Chargers an opportunity to regain the lead.
Hugo Cakurda earned the first second-half shot attempt for the Falcons in the 56
th minute, which was on goal. UAH responded four minutes later with its own shot on goal, but Valles denied the Chargers once again.
After limited shot attempts for both sides through the next 20 minutes, the Falcons finally found the back of the net in the 79
th minute to grab the 2-1 lead. Porter connected with Cakurda who scored his second goal of the season.
The Chargers looked to tie the game late, but a pair of saves by Valles in the 86' and 87' kept Montevallo in front. The Falcon goalkeeper ended the day with a total of six saves in the contest.
Montevallo added one more goal late, as Cakurda found
Nick Morrow in the 88
th minute, who scored his first goal of the season. The Chargers were unable to find success in the final minutes, as the Falcons secured the 3-1 victory at home.
Montevallo improves to 5-2-2 overall and 3-1 in GSC play.
