Falcons Fall in Memphis

Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball snapped a three-game win streak with an 81-65 loss on the road to Christian Brothers, Thursday.
 
The Buccaneers extended its win streak to five and halted UM's stretch of three-straight wins.
 
Montevallo played from behind for majority of the game after holding an early lead 5-2 less than two minutes in. With 3:51 remaining in the first half, CBU led by 20, 40-20, for the largest lead of the game. Montevallo responded with an 18-1 run to close out the first half, trimming the 20-point deficit to three at halftime, 41-38. A three-pointer from Jack Henderson began the run while Cam Glover closed the half out with a three of his own.
 
To begin the second-half, UM picked up where it left off and extended its 18-1 closing run in the first half to 22-2 to even the score 42-42 following a Tyson Sexton layup at the 18:25 mark. Other the next four minutes, Montevallo went cold from the field as CBU used an 11-3 lead to go up 53-45. The Bucs would lead the rest of the way, winning 81-65.
 
Henderson scored a team-high 17 points and went 5-of-9 from three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st |  The Falcons committed nine turnovers in the first half and shot at just 43.8 percent. UM trailed by as many as 20 but closed the first half on an 18-1 run to trail, 41-38 at the half. Jack Henderson led UM with 11 first-half points. UM went 8-for-16 from deep in the opening half.
 
2nd | CBU outscored Montevallo 40-27 in the second half and extended its lead back to as much as 20. UM struggled from three-point range in the second half, shooting 3-of-11 from long range in the frame. CBU held a plus-seven advantage on the boards in the second half.

GAME NOTES
  • Montevallo struggled offensively, shooting 43.9 percent from the field while CBU shot 53.1 percent.
  • The Falcons made 11 three-pointers but shot just 27 percent from downtown in the second half.
  • Montevallo was outrebounded for the first time since Jan. 27, 37-30. UM and CBU were even on the boards in the first half but CBU held a plus-seven advantage in the second half.
  • Jack Henderson scored a team-high 17 points as he went 6-of-10 from the floor and 5-of-9 from three.
  • Cam Glover added nine points and dished out a team-high six assists.
  • Aidan Gardiner added 15 points as he went 7-of-11 from the field.

Montevallo will continue its road trip and travel to Jackson, Tennessee for a matchup with Union on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m.
