BELMONT, N.C. – Montevallo women's lacrosse fell to 1-3 after taking an 18-10 loss to Belmont Abbey on Friday night.

Mikaela Barbieri took advantage of a man-up situation to give Montevallo a 2-0 lead with 1:41 remaining. Following BAC's first goal of the evening,
Jenna Piazza found the back of the net on a free-position opportunity to head into the second with a 3-1 lead.
Belmont Abbey opened the second quarter with four quick goals before adding another at the 8:03 mark to take a 6-3 lead. Sophomore
Chloe Norman's free-position goal ended the run for Belmont Abbey with 6:35 left in the half. The Crusaders added two more goals while the half ended with the eighth save from Piazza coming with just 27-seconds on the clock.
With BAC leading 8-4, Barbieri notched her second goal of the game in the first 90-seconds of the half to trim the lead down to just three. The Falcons allowed three-consecutive free-position goals before Piazza found her second goal of the night with 7:18 on the clock. With 21 seconds to play, Shea scored her seventh goal of the season to send the game into the fourth with the Falcons trailing by five.
Back-to-back goals from Shea opened the fourth quarter with the junior bringing the Falcons back to within three with 10:55 to play. On a man-down play, freshman
Ellery Shearer scored on another Falcon free position to wipe off a BAC goal moments earlier. The Crusaders scored five unanswered goals in the final five minutes to hand Montevallo its third loss of the season.

GAME NOTES
- In her first start as a Falcon, freshman goalkeeper Ashlei Piazza recorded 12 saves for the most by any Falcon keeper so far this season.
- For the second time this season, Kiley Shea scored four goals to bring her team-leading total to nine on the season.
- Montevallo was a perfect 6-for-6 on free-position shots while BAC went 10-of-19 from the hash marks.
- Montevallo struggled on the draws with BAC taking a 23-8 advantage in draw controls.
