JACKSON, Tenn. – Montevallo men's basketball fell one game out of eighth place in the Gulf South Conference standings following an 81-66 loss on the road against Union, on Saturday.
The Falcons fell to 9-12 in league action and swapped spots with Union in the conference standings with three games to go following the loss.
Cam Glover turned in a 24-point performance to lead the Falcons as he set a Division II program record in three-pointers attempted as he went 6-of-20 from deep.
Montevallo held a 27-25 lead at halftime after leading for most of the opening half. A three-pointer from Glover with 3:58 to go put the Falcons ahead by six, the largest lead of the first half, 25-19. Union, however, closed the half on 6-2 run to trim UM's lead to two.
A pair of three-pointers from
Jack Henderson and a layup from Glover opened the second half on an 8-2 run to give UM its largest lead of the game, 35-28. Over the next 3:18, Union used a 12-3 run to jump ahead of the Falcons 40-38 with 14:36 left in the game.
Aidan Gardiner quickly evened the score, 40-40, from the free-throw line but a 14-4 run in response pushed the Bulldogs ahead by double-digits, 54-44. Union extended its lead to as much as 16 down the stretch as the Falcons were unable to overcome, falling 81-66.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st | Montevallo held a narrow lead in the first half, 27-25, as both sides struggled offensively. Montevallo shot 33.3 percent in the first half while Union shot 39.1 percent.
2nd | Union's offense exploded in the second half and outscored UM 56-39. Union outrebounded Montevallo 21-14 in the second half and shot 68 percent from the field. The Falcons continued to struggle on offense, shooting 37.5 percent.
GAME NOTES
- Cam Glover scored a team-high 24 points as he set Montevallo's Division II program record in three-point attempts as he went 6-of-20 from long range.
- Cole Maddox chipped in 12 points off the bench and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds.
- Montevallo forced 21 turnovers by Union but were outscored in points-from-turnovers, 13-11.
- Union outrebounded Montevallo, 40-32. UM is 5-11 on the year when being outrebounded.
