MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo's season came to an end after an 85-81 loss to Auburn Montgomery on Senior Day.
The two sides traded buckets to start the day before the Falcons jumped out to a 7-3 lead with a 4-0 run from
Lia Edwards and
Marisa Snodgrass. Edwards added another bucket with 6:26 on the clock before
Anna Katherine Eastman scored her first points of the day just before the media timeout. With 3:27 on the clock, AUM took a 12-11 lead with a pair of free throws before the Falcons regained control with a triple from Snodgrass. AUM regained the lead with a three of its own before Edwards scored four points of a Montevallo 7-0 run to take a 21-15 lead with 1:28 to play. Eastman capped off the first quarter with four seconds on the clock for her seventh point of the opening quarter as Montevallo held a 23-19 lead heading into the second.
Montevallo opened the second quarter on a 9-1 run highlighted by four points from senior
Leisha Steger to give Montevallo a 32-20 lead with 5:41 left in the half. A Snodgrass midrange jumper at the 4:09 mark ended a quick 5-0 run from the Warhawks. Freshman
Cali Smallwood nailed a pair of back-to-back triples to stretch Montevallo's lead out to 40-30 with just over two minutes to play. A final Montevallo three from
Isabel Grimes in the final minute of the half lifted Montevallo to a 45-34 lead at the break.
Smallwood opened the second half with another 6-0 run on a pair of threes to give Montevallo 17-point lead with 9:21 on the clock. Out of an AUM timeout, Eastman lifted Montevallo to its largest lead of the day at 19 points with a 53-34 advantage on the scoreboard. A 10-0 AUM run over the next two minutes forced a Montevallo timeout with 7:22 on the clock. The Falcons settled in after the break with a Snodgrass triple stretching Montevallo's lead to 64-50 with 4:27 to go. The Falcons held AUM to just two points in the final two minutes to hold on to a 68-59 lead heading into the final stanza.
The Falcons were held scoreless in the first 3:18 of the fourth quarter while AUM used a 9-0 run to tie the game at 68-68. Edwards ended the Falcons struggles at the 6:09 mark before adding a free throw to give Montevallo a three-point advantage. AUM took its first lead of the game with 3:48 on the clock before
Ramie Reid tied the game back at 75-75. With 2:33 on the clock, AUM to a two-point lead before Snodgrass knotted the game at 77 in the next Falcon possession. With 1:40 on the clock, Eastman followed an AUM three with a bucket to trim the lead down to one before AUM stretched it to 82-79 with just over a minute to play. Edwards brought Montevallo back within one with 22 seconds to go but a 4-0 run from AUM gave Montevallo an 85-81 loss in the final game of the season.

2nd | Montevallo held AUM to 37.5 percent from the floor while using a 52.9-percent mark to outscore the Warhawks 22-15 in the second. A 4-for-7 mark from long range gave Montevallo a 45-34 lead at the half.
3rd | The Falcons jumped out to the largest lead of the day with a 19-point advantage at the 8:49 mark.
Cali Smallwood led both teams with 10 points in the quarter on a 3-for-5 mark from the field.
4th | Montevallo's offense struggled to start the fourth quarter with AUM tying the game up within the first three minutes. AUM closed the game on a 53.3 mark in the fourth quarter while Montevallo's 0-for-5 mark from three-point range left the Falcons to be outscored 26-13.

- Montevallo's 81 points are the most scored in a single game so far this season with the final game of the season being the only game Montevallo eclipsed 80 points.
