Falcons Come Up Short Against Alabama-Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo softball team drops the final game of the three-game series against the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on Sunday, Mar. 24.

The Falcons came out with some energy in the final game of the series as they took the lead early. Ariana Pinder led off the game with a double to left then scored on a wild pitch. Just like they've done all series, Alabama-Huntsville responded after the Falcons scored with runs of their own. The Chargers hit a solo shot to tie the game and score a second run on a single through the left side.

In the top of the third inning, Bentlee Stiner tied the ballgame up with a double that split the right center gap to score Ansley Hudson. From there on, Falcons starting pitcher, Taylor Lloyd, shut down the Charger offense as she went three scoreless frames in the second, third and fourth inning.

The Chargers would load the bases in the fifth inning after a controversial call on the field. Taylor Lloyd would get the next batter to pop out to get to two outs. With a full count, UAH would hit a grand slam to go on top 6-2.

Taylor Lloyd would record her sixth complete game of the season and would come away with an impressive stat line of six innings, two earned runs, two walks and three strikeouts. Lloyd is now over 200 innings pitched in her young Falcon career and now has 143 career punch outs.
