Falcons Down UWA 13-8 in Midweek Contest

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – In a midweek contest that featured 29 hits and 22 runs, Montevallo came out on top, 13-8, over West Alabama, Tuesday.

The Falcons turned in their third-most hits in a game this year to move past in-state rival, UWA, for the 24th win of the year at Kermit A. Johnson and Bob Riesener Stadium.

The offensive fest began early as the Falcons plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning following a pair of runs from West Alabama to begin the frame. Logan Harbin and Christian Kallaher each launched two-run homers in the opening inning to push UM ahead of the Tigers. Landon Leake added an RBI on a single and a balk scored Jake O'Connell to give UM a 6-2 lead.

Montevallo's lead grew to six in the third, first with an RBI ground out from freshman Peyton Stephenson. A single through the left side for Connor Crowson plated another run to give UM an 8-2 lead.

Leake picked up his second RBI of the day and Luke Mitchell added his first on a single to push Montevallo to a 10-4 lead in the fifth.

Montevallo's offense once again found life in the fifth inning, plating three more runs. After a wild pitch score Stephenson, Harbin collected his third and fourth RBIs of the day to make it 13-4.

West Alabama held UM scoreless over the final three frames and plated three in the ninth.

Connor Phelan earned the win on the mound, his fifth, as UM took down the Tigers, 13-8.
