MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team concluded their 2024 season against No. 16 Auburn University in Montgomery on Saturday, Apr. 27 at the Softball Stadium at Orr Park.
GAME ONE
The second game of the series saw both teams struggling for offense. Auburn Montgomery struck first with a solo homer to center. They would double their lead with another solo shot to left center.
Taylor Lloyd was solid for the Falcons as she held the Warhawk offense with only two earned runs through five innings.
AUM got hot in the sixth as they hung a six spot on Montevallo with the help of three doubles and two singles to stretch the lead to 8-0. The Falcons were unable to score in the bottom half to secure the run rule victory for AUM.

GAME TWO
For the third game in a row, the visiting team cracked the scoreboard first as AUM started the scoring with a single to center. Falcons starter,
Rachel Whiddon, pitched well as she did not allow a run in the second or third. The Warhawks hit a solo homer to create a two-run lead over Montevallo.
After AUM pushed the lead to four runs, Montevallo cracked the scoreboard with a single to left off the bat of
Olivia Bergert. In the sixth, the Warhawks would get the run back with an RBI-single. In the bottom half of the sixth,
Ariana Pinder launched her ninth home run of the season to bring the Falcons within three.
AUM would tack on an extra insurance run in the seventh and would shutout Montevallo to end the game.
