MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer will host its first two home contests of the year with games against Carson-Newman on Wednesday, Sept. 11, and Lander on Saturday, Sept. 14.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons opened the season strong with a pair of solid contests in Salisbury, N.C. After falling behind 3-0, Montevallo scored three goals in the second half to earn a 3-3 draw against Catawba on Thursday. Two of those goals came in the final two minutes while the Falcons played with a man down. Montevallo followed that up with a thrilling 1-0 win over Belmont Abbey.
Mark Shoebridge scored a late goal in the 86
th minute to break the scoreless tie and secure the first win of the season for UM.

Carson-Newman holds a 0-1-1 record through its first two games of the season, with a 2-2 draw against Trevecca Nazarene and a 1-0 loss to Young Harris. In goal, Juan Rodriguez holds a 0-2 record with six saves and five goals against in 148 minutes played.
Series History Against Carson-Newman:
Montevallo and Carson-Newman face off for the first time in 28 years. The Eagles hold a 1-0-1 advantage in the series, picking up a 1-0 win in 1995, while the teams had a 1-1 draw in 1996. This will be the first time Montevallo hosts Carson-Newman, as the previous contests were on the road.
Series History Against Lander:
Montevallo and Lander face off for the eleventh time, with the Bearcats holding a 6-4 advantage in the overall series. The two squads faced off as Peach Belt rivals, playing nine times through 2009-16. After a long hiatus, the two squads faced off once again in 2023. Lander took home a 3-0 victory in Greenwood, S.C. last year.
