MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer heads into the final game of the Falcons' non-conference slate with a trip to Salisbury, N.C. to take on Catawba on Saturday afternoon.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons enter the weekend with a 1-1 overall record after a debut goal from
Madison Bennett in UM's season opener against Kentucky Wesleyan lifted Montevallo to its first win of the season. Montevallo suffered its first loss of the season on Sept. 7 when the Falcons fell, 3-2, to McKendree in a neutral-site contest. The Falcons led at the half but three second-half goals from the Bearcats proved to be the difference.
Montevallo's front line boasts a strong opening to the season with a total of 27 shots in two games with 15 shots on frame for a .556 shots on goal percentage. The Falcons have tallied a total of three goals on the season, all of which have been paired with an assist. Montevallo's defense has allowed 17 shots with nine shots on goal with just three goals given up so far.
Individually, a trio of Falcons each have a goal in the first two games of the 2024 season. Bennett's game-winner in a 1-0 win to open the season sparked the first of three newcomer goals from the Falcons.
Rilee Bradbury followed suit in the first 11 minutes against McKendree while
Shadia Valenzuela scored the third goal in the second half.
Raylene Alcaraz leads Montevallo with a pair of assists on the season.

Catawba ranks ninth in the United Soccer Coaches Div. II poll with a 2-0-1 record after opening the season with a 3-2 win over No. 15 Embry-Riddle. The Indians then added a 3-1 victory of Georgia College before drawing with West Virginia State on Wednesday night. Catawba hosts the Falcons on Saturday for the fourth-straight home contest to start the season.
The Indians have totaled seven goals on the season off 40 shots with 21 shots on target. Catawba has assisted on four goals this season with a pair of goals coming off three penalty kicks. Catawba's backline has allowed four goals in 2024 on 25 shots with just nine shots on goal.
The Indians' attack is led by Kelly Havens and Kylie Morin with a pair of goals each while another trio have recorded a single goal. Bree Ehmar leads with a pair of assists while Ashley Hughes has played two games in goal with five saves and three goals allowed.
