Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – The Montevallo men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 5-1 at Anderson on Wednesday evening.
The Trojans started hot, scoring back-to-back goals on AU's first two shot attempts, in the seventh and eighth minute, respectively.
Down two goals early, the Falcons looked to respond quickly driving the ball down the field and receiving a corner. After an unsuccessful clear by the Trojans,
Cristobal Porter found
Seth Acton who scored his second goal of the season in the tenth minute on a bicycle kick, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
The Falcons continued to push, firing the next two shots, but a costly Montevallo yellow card in the 28
th minute would grant a penalty kick to Anderson. The Trojans connected, extending the advantage to 3-1.
Anderson scored one more goal before the break, taking a 4-1 lead into the half.
The Falcons recorded four shots in the second half, but could not find the back of the net. In goal,
Tomas Valles Gilbert recorded five saves in the period.
The Trojans would find the back of the net one more time in the second half, preserving the 5-1 win for Anderson.
