MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's soccer team fell to Lee 3-0 on Sunday afternoon, closing the opening weekend of conference play with a 1-1 record.
Lee started the game hot, firing the first six shots of the game, all coming in the first ten minutes.
Tomas Valles Gilbert kept the Flames off the board early with three saves.
Montevallo fired its first shot of the game in the 14
th minute, which came off the foot of
Cristobal Porter.
The Flames would strike first, scoring a goal in the 28
th minute to take the early 1-0 advantage. Lee continued to control the possession, only allowing two more shots by the Falcons throughout the rest of the half.
Lee added to its lead, earning another goal in the 73
rd minute to take a 2-0 advantage.
Montevallo earned its first shot on goal in the 77
th minute which came off the foot of
Theodor Frach.
Dominic Kienzle and
Baden Derringer provided the only other shots on goal for the Falcons in the contest.
Lee would add one more goal in the final minutes to secure the 3-0 victory.
Montevallo drops to 3-2-2 and 1-1 in conference play. The Falcons return to action on Friday, Oct. 4, for a road game against West Alabama.
