CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Montevallo men's basketball snapped a three-game skid with a gutsy 58-50 win over Lee to sweep the season series with the Flames.
Montevallo drew first blood with a
Jaylen Curry triple in the opening possession before Lee took a 6-3 lead at the 16:39 mark with a 6-0 run. The Falcons regained control with a quick 5-0 run behind a
Tyson Sexton triple and a
Brandon Fussell finish at the rim to go up 8-6 at the 14:19 mark. With 10:39 on the clock,
Derek Moore gave the Falcons a four-point lead to match the Falcons' largest lead of the half. A 5-0 run from Lee left the Falcons trailing by five with 5:39 on the clock before UM cut the lead down to 28-27 at the halftime break.
The Falcons took the lead out of the break with a Curry three from the top of the key before Moore nailed a triple to give Montevallo a 33-30 lead at the 16:35. Just two minutes later, Fussell went up and under to keep the Falcons out in front before
Aidan Gardiner capped a 5-0 Montevallo run to give the Falcons a 42-37 advantage. At the 9:41 mark, Curry gave Montevallo its largest lead so far in the game at 44-38. Just two minutes later, the Flames cut Montevallo's lead down to one before Fussell ended the run with a deep three from the top of the key. With 4:41 on the clock, Lee took its first lead of the second half at 49-48. With a finish at the rim with just 1:42 on the clock, Fussell gave the Falcons a six-point lead that would grow to eight with a pair of free throws that gave Montevallo a 58-50 win.

- Montevallo struggled offensively with a 37.5-percent clip from the field and 32.0 percent from three-point range while holding Lee to just 35.2 percent from the floor and 25.9 percent from three.
- The Flames held a slim advantage on the glass with a 35-33 margin while leading with 12 offensive rebounds to UM's 11.
- Montevallo's season series win over the Flames is the first time in the Falcons' Div. II history.
- Brandon Fussell led the game with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting and 2-of-5 to go along with five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
- Jaylen Curry also eclipsed double digits with 14 points on 5-of-15 shooting with four rebounds while Derek Moore led the Falcons on the glass with seven rebounds and nine points.
