MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team delivered a dominant performance Friday night at Central State Bank Arena, defeating Union in straight sets to improve to 7-10 overall and 4-4 in Gulf South Conference play.

The Falcons came out firing, opening the match with an incredible 16-0 run behind a strong serving stretch from Blakeley Robbins. The sophomore setter notched multiple assists and a service ace while setting up kills from Eliza Tyrrell, Danielle Greene, and Maggie McColley.
Union finally got on the board after the run, but Montevallo never looked back, hitting an impressive .267 in the set and controlling the pace from start to finish. Tyrrell sealed the frame with her sixth kill of the set, giving the Falcons a decisive 25-12 win.
Union found more rhythm early in the second, trading points with Montevallo to a 10-10 tie. A service ace from Tyrrell and timely blocks from Greene and McColley fueled a key 8-1 Montevallo run. A late kill from Tyrrell set up Greene's set-clinching kill, closing the second at 25-18.
The teams traded runs midway through the third set, but Montevallo found momentum late with a pair of kills from Katie Wilkerson and a key service ace by Lilly Singleton to push ahead 21-17.
The visitors mounted a rally to tie it at 23-23, but the Falcons stayed poised. A Union attack error gave the Falcons match point, and Montevallo closed it out 25-23 to complete the sweep.
GAME NOTES
- The Falcons were once again dominant at the net, outblocking the Lady Bulldogs 13-5.
- Danielle Greene led UM with 10.0 total blocks and a .500 hitting percentage.
- Eliza Tyrrell paced a balanced Falcon attack with eight kills.
