CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Montevallo women's soccer took its first conference loss of the season in a 3-1 defeat at Lee.
Montevallo fell behind early with Lee finding the back of the net in the 14
th minute to give the Lady Flames a 1-0 lead. Lee added to its lead in the 30
th minute before extending its lead to 3-0 in the 32
nd minute. The Falcons closed the gap to 3-1 in the 35
th minute with a free kick off the right foot of
Morgan Goehring after
Katelynn Kott drew a foul just outside the box. In the 39
th minute,
Jolie Cazale kept the Falcons within two with her first save of the day. Montevallo would see a final scoring opportunity in the 42
nd minute with a corner kick but could not convert and went to the half trailing 3-1.
The second half began as a battle for possession with neither side taking a shot until the 55
th minute. Montevallo's first shot of the half came off the foot of
Lainey Farabaugh in the 59
th minute. Five minutes later,
Ayla Ertekin fired a shot on goal just before
Batie Casey's shot on goal, but both were denied by the Lee keeper. In the 72
nd minute, Ertekin added another shot on goal but failed to beat the keeper. The Falcons saw another pair of shots on goal in the final 18 minutes but would eventually fall, 3-1, for the first loss in conference play.
