MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Montevallo men's soccer team dropped its first Gulf South Conference contest of the season, dropping a 4-0 decision at Auburn Montgomery on Friday evening.
AUM struck first, scoring a goal on its first shot attempt of the game to take an early 1-0 advantage in the third minute. The Warhawks looked to add to its lead early, firing another shot on goal in the sixth minute, but
Andre Etcheverry picked up his first save to keep the deficit at one goal.
Seth Acton recorded the first UM shot of the game, which was on target, but the AUM keeper would record a save to keep the Falcons off the board in the tenth minute. Both teams fired a shot apiece in the next few minutes before the Warhawks would record another shot on goal in the 15
th minute which was saved by Etcheverry. The Falcon keeper recorded two more saves in the first half to keep the deficit at one goal at the break.
Oscar Vallejo and
Dominic Kienzle fired early shots in the second half, but the Warhawks would find the back of the net once again, scoring goals in the 67' and 70' to take a commanding 3-0 lead. The Falcons looked to respond, as
Dakota Hart fired the second UM shot on goal of the game in the 74
th minute, but the AUM keeper kept the Falcons off the board. The Warhawks added one more goal in the 81
st minute, ultimately securing a 4-0 victory.
