MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's soccer team continues Gulf South Conference play this week, with a pair of games against in-state opponents. The Falcons open the week at UAH (Oct. 3), before facing West Alabama at home (Oct. 5).

Montevallo enters the week with an overall record of 2-2-3 and a 1-0-1 mark in GSC play. The Falcons opened conference play last week, picking up four points after a 1-1 draw at Lee and a 3-2 win at Trevecca. Against the Flames,
Seth Acton scored the equalizer in the 69
th minute to seal the draw in Montevallo's GSC opener. Against the Trojans,
Dominic Kienzle had a stellar day, recording a hat trick to power Montevallo to the 3-2 victory.
On the season, Kienzle leads the team in goals (seven), points (15), shots (14), shots on goals (nine), and game winners (two). Kienzle's seven goals rank second overall in the GSC and tied for fifth in the nation. Acton has recorded the second most points on the team with six total points from two goals and a team leading-two assists. Acton's efforts last week led him to being named GSC Defender of the Week.
UAH enters the contest with a 4-1-1 overall record and a 1-1 mark in GSC play. Last time out, the Chargers defeated Lee 2-1 and fell to Trevecca 1-0. Phillip Seifert leads the way for UAH in goals (four), points (nine), shots (14), and shots on goal (nine). Sonny Wright has played all six games in goal and ranks fourth in the GSC in saves with 21, while allowing six goals on the year.
West Alabama enters the week with a 3-2-1 overall record, while ranking at the top of the GSC with a 3-0 mark in league play. This past week, the Tigers defeated Spring Hill, 1-0, in its only contest of the week. David Nunez leads the way for UWA with six goals, 13 points, 20 shots, 11 shots on goal, and two game winners. Charlie Walker has played all six games in goal, tallying 15 saves and nine goals against.
Kickoff at Charger Park is set for 7:30 p.m. CST on Friday, Oct. 3, in Huntsville, Ala.
