Falcons Host UWF and SHC to Close Conference Season

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer is set to host No. 6 West Florida and Spring Hill for Montevallo's final set of Gulf South Conference games.

Montevallo heads into the week's competitions with an 8-3-2 overall record and a 7-1-2 mark in conference play. Montevallo hit a bit of slump in its four-game road trip over the last two weeks with a 1-1-2 record in its last four games. The Falcons posted a 0-0 draw at Mississippi College before picking up a 1-0 win at Delta State on Oct. 11. Last week, Montevallo dropped its first conference game of the season to Lee before drawing with Trevecca Nazarene, 1-1, on Oct. 18. The Falcons rank third in the league with a total of 23 goals scored on a third-best 15.69 shots per game with an average of 7.00 shots on goal per game. Defensively, Montevallo has allowed just 11 goals through 13 games with opponents taking 8.8 shots per game and 4.15 shots on goal. Individually, Lainey Farabaugh leads Montevallo with a total of seven goals on the season while Morgan Goehring leads the team with 17 points on five goals and seven assists. In the net, Ciara Duff leads Montevallo with a total of six clean sheets with 18 saves on the season while Jolie Cazale leads with 20 saves and a pair of shutouts.
 
The No. 6 ranked West Florida enters Wednesday's outing with an unbeaten 12-0-2 overall record and an 8-0-1 in conference play. The Argos are currently on a nine-game win streak with UWF taking a trio of wins in the last week. UWF began the week with a win over Middle Georgia State before adding a 1-0 win over Union on Oct. 17. Most recently, West Florida picked up a 6-1 win over Christian Brothers on Oct. 19. West Florida leads the league with a total of 35 goals on the season with an average of 17.8 shots per game and 10.8 shots on goal. Defensively, UWF has allowed just seven goals on the season with just 6.7 shots per game and 3.5 shots on goal. Olof Thorvaldsdottir leads West Florida with a total of 24 points with a team-high nine goals and six assists while Hunter Wallace has added six goals on the season. In goal, Belle Okoroafo has totaled 40 saves on the season while allowing just five goals through 14 starts.
 
Spring Hill comes into Saturday's game with a 6-2-6 overall mark and a 4-2-3 record in GSC action. The Badgers head into this weekend's outing on a four-game win streak with wins over Valdosta State and Auburn Montgomery on Oct. 10 and Oct .12, respectively. Last week, SHC picked up a 3-0 win over Christian Brothers on Oct. 17 before adding a 2-0 win over Union in its most recent outing. The Badgers have tallied a total of 18 goals on the season with an average of 10.6 shots per game while adding 5.71 shots on goal. Spring Hill has allowed just six goals on the season with opponents firing 10.9 shots per game and 4.28 shots on goal. Individually, Sofia Jimenez Garcia leads the team with four goals and one assist for a total of nine points on the season while Ashley Drennon leads the team with four assists. In the net, Carlotta Stark has recorded 53 saves on the season with just six goals allowed and a total of 10 clean sheets for the year.
