Men's Soccer Set to Close Regular Season at Home Against Delta and MC

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's soccer team is set to close the 2025 regular season this weekend, with home contests against Delta State (Oct. 31) and (RV) Mississippi College (Nov. 2).

OFFICIAL SCHEDULE

Montevallo enters the weekend with a 5-3-6 overall record and a 4-1-4 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Falcons earned four points in league play last week with a 1-0 win over Christian Brothers and a 1-1 draw at Union.
Going into the final week of the regular season, Dominic Kienzle is tied for first in the GSC in goals (ten) and game winners (four). Kienzle also holds team leads in points (22), shots (33), and shots on goal (16). Seth Acton leads the team in assists with three and has the second most points on the team (nine). Acton scored the game winning goal against Christian Brothers in the final minute on Friday. Andre Etcheverry has been solid in goal for the Falcons, recording five shutouts with four of those being against GSC opponents. The junior keeper has recorded 52 saves and faced 172 shots, while allowing 19 goals.

Delta State enters the week with a 2-9-2 overall record and a 1-7-1 mark in GSC play. The Statesmen split a pair of games last week, falling to Trevecca (2-0), before picking up its first win in league play with a 2-1 win over Lee. Alfie Lally leads DSU in goals (three), points (seven), and shots (16), while sharing a team leading-seven shots on goal. Three Statesmen have split time in goal, with Mason Baglio (2-3-2) seeing most of the action, with 26 saves, 11 goals against, and two shutouts in seven games played.

Mississippi College enters the final weekend of the regular season at the top of the GSC standings with a 9-1-4 overall record and a 7-0-2 mark in GSC play. The Choctaws captured a pair of wins over Lee (3-0) and Trevecca (4-1) last week. The Choctaws lead the entire GSC in goals (39), assists (30), and points (108). MC poses a balanced attack as Russell Berko has nine goals and five assists, Sergio Garrido has eight goals and eight assists, and Lewis Matton has eight goals and three assists. Cole Turner (8-1-4) has recorded 51 saves and three shutouts, while allowing 16 goals in 13 games.

Kickoff at Varsity Field is set for 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday.
