MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo volleyball team returns to Central State Bank Arena this weekend for a pair of GSC matchups. The Falcons will host Union on Friday at 6:00 p.m. before closing the weekend with a 2:00 p.m. matchup against Christian Brothers on Saturday.
This weekend's slate features two special causes as Mental Health Week continues on campus. Friday's match coincides with World Mental Health Day, while Saturday's contest serves as the Falcons' annual Breast Cancer Awareness Match.
OFFICIAL SCHEDULE
Montevallo looks to keep its momentum rolling after back-to-back wins over Valdosta State and West Alabama this past week. Sophomore libero Ava Wind was named the GSC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 72 digs across three conference matches for the Falcons.
Union enters the weekend at 2-11 overall and 0-6 in GSC play after a 3-1 loss to Trevecca on Tuesday. Freshman Elizabeth Gilbert has been a bright spot for the Bulldogs, leading the team with 114 kills. Kylie Creech and Ashley Pruitt have combined for 284 assists, while Marie Torosian anchors the back row with a team-best 177 digs.
Christian Brothers comes in with a 7-10 (2-4 GSC) record following a 3-1 defeat to Lee on Tuesday. Ella Schumacher leads the Lady Bucs' attack with 165 kills, while Sarah Helms paces the front line with 36.0 total blocks. Defensively, Sophia Nowacki and Carleiny Morillo lead the way with 191 and 121 digs, respectively.
