MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Athletics has named Men's Soccer
Andre Etcheverry and Women's Soccer's
Lainey Farabaugh as the Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of Nov. 10.
Andre Etcheverry (Men's Soccer)
Junior goalkeeper
Andre Etcheverry turned in a standout performance in goal during Montevallo's Gulf South Conference Quarterfinal match against Auburn Montgomery on Sunday evening. Despite the Falcons' narrow 1-0 overtime loss, Etcheverry was exceptional between the posts, recording nine saves while facing 21 total shots from the Warhawks.
Etcheverry kept Montevallo in contention throughout the match, denying several chances, including three crucial saves in the final ten minutes of regulation to force overtime. Etcheverry's composure and shot stopping ability anchored the Falcons' defensive effort and capped off a strong season in which Montevallo finished 5-5-7 overall and 4-2-5 in GSC play.
Lainey Farabaugh (Women's Soccer)
Junior forward
Lainey Farabaugh continued her dominant offensive run, leading the Falcons to a 3-2 victory over Spring Hill in the Gulf South Conference Quarterfinals on Saturday evening. Farabaugh opened the scoring in the second minute before adding her second goal in the 19
th minute, giving a 2-1 lead at the half.
Farabaugh finished with two goals on three shots and one goal against Clayton State earlier this week, improving to 11 goals on the season to lead the Falcons. Her early offensive spark set the tone for Montevallo's attack and helped secure a spot to the GSC Semifinals. Farabaugh's consistent scoring presence and leadership continue to propel the Falcons during postseason play.
