Players of the Week Presented by Jack’s Nov. 17

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Athletics has named Men's Basketball's Derek Moore and Volleyball's Danielle Greene as the Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of Nov. 17.

Derek Moore (Men's Basketball)

Senior forward Derek Moore opened the 2025–26 season with a dominant two-game stretch in Ft. Lauderdale, leading the Falcons on both ends of the floor. Moore delivered a breakout performance in Montevallo's 78-62 season-opening win over Barry, posting a game-high 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting while adding four rebounds in just 25 minutes. He scored the first five points of the second half during a crucial 5-0 run and later poured in six points during a key late surge that helped secure the road victory.

Moore continued his strong weekend against No. 1 Nova Southeastern, contributing 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting to go along with four made free throws. He added a physical presence inside as Montevallo battled the top-ranked Sharks throughout the second half.

Across the two-game opening weekend, Moore averaged 17.5 points per game, shot an efficient 61.3 percent from the field, and provided consistent interior scoring that powered Montevallo to its 1-1 start.

Danielle Greene (Volleyball)

Senior middle blocker Danielle Greene capped Montevallo's regular season with two standout performances, helping the Falcons to back-to-back GSC victories and reaching a major career milestone in the process. Greene recorded 11 kills and four blocks in Thursday's 3-0 sweep over AUM, sparking an early surge in set one and anchoring the Falcons' front row presence throughout the match.

On Friday's Senior Night, Greene once again led the Falcons with 11 kills while adding three blocks in a 3-1 win over UAH. Midway through the third set, she recorded her 500th kill of her Montevallo career, highlighting her consistency as one of the conference's most efficient hitters.

Greene enters postseason play ranked number four in the Gulf South Conference in hitting percentage, number one in the GSC in total blocks, number two in NCAA Division II in total blocks (160.0), and number eight nationally in blocks per set (1.36), cementing her status as one of the top middle blockers.
