Falcons Close Road Trip at Georgia Southwestern Before Hosting Fisk

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball heads into one of its final nonconference outings at Georgia Southwestern on Saturday afternoon with tipoff set for 3 p.m. before hosting Fisk on Monday afternoon.

Montevallo opened the season with a 1-1 record at the GSC/SSC Crossover after the Falcons took a 78-62 win over Barry in the season opener before falling to No. 1 Nova Southeastern on Nov. 15.
 
In the first two games of the season, Montevallo averaged 78.0 points per game on a 42.5-percent clip from the floor while shooting 82.1 percent from the free throw line. The Falcons averaged 37.0 rebounds per game in the opening weekend while posting 12.5 assists per game, 10.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks. Defensively, Montevallo's opponents shot 41.2 percent from the floor and 30.6 percent from long range with an average of 42.5 rebounds per game through the first two games of the season.
 
Derek Moore led the Falcons' offense with 17.5 points per game on an impressive 59.1 percent shooting and 81.8 percent from the stripe while also leading Montevallo with 5.0 rebounds per game. In his first collegiate contests, Devon McKinnon scored 15.5 points per game on 33.3 percent shooting with a perfect 13-for-13 mark from the line while also pulling down 4.5 boards per game. Brandon Fussell continues to be one of the Falcons' top offensive threats with 13.0 points per game in a team-high 35.0 minutes per game while adding 5.5 assists per game.
 
Georgia Southwestern enters Saturday's matchup with a 3-0 overall record after topping Converse, 91-67, in the season opener before topping Ferrum on Nov. 15. Most recently, GSW added an 80-63 win over West Alabama on the road on Nov. 19.
 
The Hurricanes averaged 83.0 points per game on a 48.9-percent shooting clip and a 44.3 percent mark from deep. GSW averages 43.3 rebounds per game while adding 16.0 assists, 4.7 steals and 6.0 blocks per game. On the defensive end of the floor, GSW allows just 63.7 points per game with its opponents shooting 34.6 percent from the floor and just 21.6 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Georgia Southwestern is led by Deonte Williams with 18.0 points per game and a 53.8-percent mark from the floor while adding 10.3 rebounds per game to average a double-double early in the season. Amir Reaves follows closely with an average of 13.7 points per game on 44-percent shooting and 71.4-percent from long range. Matthew Webster ranks second on the squad with 5.7 rebounds per game while scoring an average of 11.0 points in the first three games of the season.
 
Fisk holds a 2-8 record heading into Monday's contest after opening the season with three-consecutive losses before picking up an 86-69 win over Simmons on Saturday, Nov. 8. The Bulldogs added a 97-69 win on Nov. 14 before falling in two straight in its most recent outings.
 
Fisk averages 75.6 points per game on 67.3 percent shooting while posting a 32.2-percent mark from beyond the arc. On the glass, the Bulldogs average 37.0 rebounds per game while posting 14.5 assists, 8.3 steals, and 2.4 blocks per game. Defensively, Fisk allows 86.3 points per game on a 47.1 percent clip from the field and 34.3 percent from deep from its opponents.
 
Simeon Williams leads Fisk's offense with 14.3 points per game on 42.0-percent shooting and 80.6 percent from the line while adding 9.1 rebounds per game. Freshman Kaleb Jeffries ranks second on the squad with 13.6 points per game on 45.7-percent from the field and 34.1 percent from deep while adding 2.4 assists per game.
