Falcons Host Truett McConnell in First Home Dual of the Season

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team kicks off its home slate on Thursday night, hosting Truett McConnell inside Central State Bank Arena. Action is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.

OFFICIAL SCHEDULE

The Falcons opened the 2025-26 campaign with a dominant showing at the Pepsi Patriot Open, where three wrestlers, Cole Hunt (125-Open), Max Stedeford (149-Open), and Cole Sykes (184-Fr./So.), captured individual titles. Six additional Falcons placed in their respective brackets, helping Montevallo finish second overall with 198 team points.

Hunt's impressive debut weekend earned him Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week honors after he went unbeaten with a pair of wins over ranked NAIA opponents that was capped off by a 17-4 major decision over No. 25 Jordan Rodriguez (Cleary) in the championship bout.

Truett McConnell, which received votes in the preseason NAIA Top 25, also competed at the Pepsi Patriot Open, placing two wrestlers. Caleb Benton (141) and Phillip Terrell (285) led the Bears' efforts, while Nate Napolitano enters Thursday ranked No. 14 at 165 pounds and Terrell sits No. 25 at 285 in the latest NAIA rankings.

DUAL NOTES

  • Thursday marks the first-ever dual between Montevallo and Truett McConnell.
  • The Falcons have won their home opener in each of the program's first two seasons.
