MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team opened the dual season in dominant fashion Thursday night, rolling past Truett McConnell 46-4 inside Central State Bank Arena.
The Falcons jumped out to a fast start as reigning Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week Cole Hunt moved to 6-0 on the season with a fall over Tate Thomas in the 125-pound bout, a rematch from last weekend's Pepsi Patriot Open. Noah Smith followed with a commanding 25-9 tech fall at 133 pounds to extend the early Montevallo lead.
At 141, Kaden Brown cruised to a 19-4 tech fall against Isaiah Hall, marking the Falcons' second of the night. No. 15 Max Stedeford kept his undefeated streak alive with a pin over Elijah Mullins before Carson Freeman added another fall, his first of the season, in the 157-pound bout against Avery Spencer.
Aiden Knight continued the Falcons' momentum with a fall over Christian Anderson at 174, while Cole Sykes battled to a 10-3 decision over Spencer Fields. Montevallo added six more points as Rhett Walters collected a forfeit at 197, and Willie Cox closed the night with a gritty 2-1 decision over NAIA No. 25 Phillip Terrell, his second win over Terrell this season.
