MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball is set to host Delta State and Mississippi College for the first home conference games of the season.

Montevallo heads into the week's matchups with a 4-3 record after opening the season with a 1-1 record at the GSC/SSC Challenge with a win over Barry and a loss to No. 1 Nova Southeastern. The Falcons then posted a 2-1 record in the final three games of the nonconference schedule with wins over Fisk and Spring Hill in Central State Bank Arena. The Falcons opened conference play with loss on the road at Lee on Dec. 4 before picking up a 90-60 win over Trevecca Nazarene on Dec. 6.
Montevallo averages a total of 79.1 points per game on a team field-goal percentage of 46.0 percent while shooting 32.8 percent from long range and a league-high 78.3-percent mark from the free throw line. On the glass, Montevallo averages the second-most defensive rebounds in the GSC with 28.4 per game while adding 8.4 offensive rebounds for a total of 36.9 per game. Defensively, Montevallo allows an average of 71.9 points per game on an average of 40.7-percent shooting and 35.1-percent from long range. Montevallo's opponents average a total of 36.9 rebounds per game while forcing the second most turnovers per game at 16.4.

Derek Moore while an average of 18.7 points per game on a team-high 67.6-percent shooting while leading Montevallo with 7.1 rebounds per game.
Brandon Fussell ranks second on the squad with an average of 15.0 points per game on 44.1-percent from the floor while adding a GSC-leading 6.0 assists per game. Freshman guard
Devon McKinnon averages 13.7 points per game on 39.4-percent from the floor and 41.0 percent from long range while adding 3.4 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists.
Delta State enters Thursday night's outing with a 4-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play after opening the season with a pair of home wins over LeMoyne-Owen and Williams Baptist College. The Statesmen then dropped a pair of road contests at Kentucky Wesleyan and Arkansas Monticello. DSU closed the nonconference schedule with a 75-68 win over Ouachita Baptist on Nov. 29. Delta State dropped its GSC opener at home against Union before topping Christian Brothers, 67-64, on Dec. 6.
Delta State averages a total of 70.6 points per game on a 41.0-percent shooting clip while adding a 33.0-percent mark from beyond the arc and a 74.3-percent clip from the stripe. The Statesmen pull down an average of 33.3 rebounds per game while recording 22.1 defensive rebounds and 11.1 offensive rebounds per game. Defensively, Delta State allows just 69.6 points per game on a 46.3-percent mark from the floor and a 36.6-percent clip from long range. DSU forces an average of 11.4 turnovers per game while adding 5.3 steals per game.
Individually, Delta State is led by Je'Marion Westbrook with an average of 12.9 points per game on a 41.8-percent clip from the floor while adding an average of 6.0 rebounds per game. Dacory Porter ranks second on the squad with an average of 12.1 points per game on a team-high 50.0 percent shooting and 50.0 percent from long range while adding 4.0 rebounds per game and a team-high 7.1 assists per game. Elisha Puckett leads the team with an average of 6.6 rebounds per game while adding 9.1 points per game.
Mississippi College holds a 5-3 overall record and a 2-0 mark in conference play after opening the season with a road loss at Central State before topping Albany State on Nov. 15. MC adding a pair of back-to-back wins over Tougaloo on Nov. 18 and a 103-789 win over Belhaven on Nov. 20. MC closed the nonconference schedule with a pair of losses at Southern Arkansas and Northeastern State. The Choctaws opened conference play with an 84-76 win over Christian Brothers before adding an 81-75 victory against Union on Dec. 6.
The Choctaws average 79.4 points per game on a 47.6-percent shooting clip while adding a 34.8-percent mark from long range and a 69.5-percent mark from the charity stripe. On the boards, MC averages a total of 35.8 rebounds per game while adding 13.8 assists. Defensively, the Choctaws allow an average of 79.1 points per game on 46.5-percent shooting with a 35.9-percent clip from long range. MC also forces an average of 12.1 turnovers per game with a 5.8 steals per game average.
Marcel Bridges leads the team with an average of 18.1 points per game on a 57.1-percent clip from the floor and a 36.4-percent mark form three-point range while adding 5.9 rebounds per game. Phil Nelson ranks second on the team with an average of 16.0 points per game on a 53.0-percent shooting mark while also shooting 62.5-percent from long range. Avaughn Johnson leads the team with an average of 7.3 rebounds per game while adding 10.3 points per game.
