Women's Basketball Set to Host Delta State and MC

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team is set to host its first Gulf South Conference home games this week with contests against Delta State (Dec. 11) and Mississippi College (Dec. 13).

OFFICIAL SCHEDULE

Montevallo holds an overall record of 1-5 and an 0-2 mark in GSC play. The Falcons opened conference play last weekend, falling to Lee and Trevecca on the road. Emily Mouser had a solid start to conference play, leading her to being named GSC Freshman of the Week. The freshman averaged 13.5 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists, and a steal, while shooting 45.5-percent from the field, 62.5-percent from beyond the arc, and 100-percent from the free-throw line.

On the season, Montevallo averages 55.2 points, while shooting 36.3-percent from the field, and 23.9-percent from beyond the arc. Mouser and Elyse Hughes share a team leading-11.3 points per game. Mouser has team leads in assists (18) and steals (seven), while Hughes leads the team in rebounding (6.5 rpg). Shalexia Little holds a team leading-four blocks.

Delta State holds an overall record of 4-3 with a 2-0 mark in GSC play. The Lady Statesmen opened conference play last week home wins over No. 22 Union and Christian Brothers. Delta State averages 60.7 points, while shooting 36.2-percent from the floor and 35.4-percent from beyond the arc, which leads the GSC. Olivia Allen leads the team in scoring (11.1 ppg) and steals (15), while Dakiya Toney leads the team in rebounding and ranks third in the GSC, averaging 8.3 boards.

Mississippi College holds an overall record of 2-5 and a 1-1 mark in GSC play. The Choctaws opened GSC play last week, defeating Christian Brothers and falling to No. 22 Union. MC averages 66.7 points, while shooting 41-percent from the floor and 25.5-percent from distance. Nia Coleman leads the team in scoring (13.7 ppg) and rebounding (4.9), while shooting 51.2-percent from the floor.
