NORTH CANTON, OHIO – Montevallo's
Brandon Shaffner set a new Montevallo single season record during the Falcons' 11-5 road win over Walsh on a dreary Friday afternoon.
Montevallo drew first blood at the 10:02 mark on an unassisted goal from

Alex Egorshin to open the game. Three minutes later, the Cavaliers tied the game at 1-1 in a rainy start to the game. Egorshin added three more saves to keep the score tied at one heading into the second.
The Falcons regained control with a pair of quick goals from
Aidan Collery and
Michael Howkins to start the second with a 3-1 lead. Both defenses held strong over the next 13 minutes with neither side finding the back of the net. Montevallo would go on to add four shots on goal before Collery beat the keeper for the second time with just 19 second remaining in the half to give UM a 4-1 lead heading to the break.
Howkins added his second of the day as the Falcons came out of the half firing. Just 33 seconds later at the 13:24 mark,
John Spaans took advantage of a Walsh penalty to extend the Falcons' lead to 6-1. The Cavaliers would find their first goal since the first quarter at the 12:25 mark of the third but
Marley Straker pushed the Falcons' lead back to five with 11:21 to play. Egorshin added four more saves as the defenses stiffened before
Aaron Tichonoff made the score 8-2 heading into the fourth.
