Falcons Edged Out By Mars Hill

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo acrobatics and tumbling team drops their first home meet in program history to Mars Hill on Friday, Mar. 7.
 
Behind an energized and packed Central State Bank Arena, the Falcons scored their second highest compulsory total of the season with 34.30 points. In the acro heat of the compulsory, UM notched a season-high of 8.50. They followed it up with their third consecutive 9.00+ of the season as they scored 9.45 in the pyramid heat.
 
In the acro event, Montevallo set a season-high with 26.35 total points. They were strong in the 5-element and 7-element as they scored 9.35 and 9.30. The Falcons narrowly lost that event as Mars Hill had 26.60.
 
The pyramid was another event decided by less than a point as the Falcons were edged out 27.25 to 26.65. Montevallo hit a season-high of 9.25 in the inversion pyramid. Montevallo was solid in the toss event with scores of 8.80 in the 450 salto, 8.05 in the synchronized and 8.05 in the open toss. UM did notch their second highest total points in the toss event this season with 24.90 points.
 
In the tumbling event, Avery Grant shined with a season-high of 9.575 in the aerial pass, bettering her previous mark of 9.400. The Falcons would fall in this event 47.800 to 46.650.
 
In the team event, Mars Hill would close out the Falcons as they scored an 80.47 compared the UM's 79.40.

The Falcons will have a quick turnaround as they take on East Texas Baptist on Tuesday, Mar. 11 inside Central State Bank Arena.
