Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer opens conference play with a 1-0 win over Auburn Montgomery on the road on Wednesday night.
The Falcons attack got to work early with a shot from
Morgan Goehring in the second minute before the junior fired the first shot on goal of the game just seven minutes into action. In the 19
th minute, senior midfielder
Bear Bradbury added another shot on target but was denied by the AUM keeper.
Sierra Nickelberry added another UM shot on goal in the 22
nd minute before
Batie Casey added a fourth shot on frame with just under ten to play in the half. In the final minute of the half,
Ayla Ertekin nearly broke the ice but was denied by the crossbar.
Just three minutes into the second half, Bradbury added her second shot on frame of the night. The game turned into a game of possession for the next 20 minutes before Ciarra Duff made her lone save of the night in the 63
rd minute. In the same minute,
Madysen Legere fired another dangerous Falcon shot but was denied by the keeper. In the 72
nd minute,
Morgan Goehring finally finished in the back of the net with assists to Casey and
Elise Marquardt. The Falcons would add another pair of shots on goal but would eventually take the win on a score of 1-0.
