Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. –
Morgan Goehring led the way for the Falcons on Saturday afternoon, recording six points with two goals and two assists, as Montevallo Women's Soccer earned a dominant 4-0 victory at Valdosta State.
The Falcons struck first, as Goehring fired the first shot of the game for either side in the fourth minute. Goehring found
Lainey Farabaugh three minutes later who scored her first goal of the season, putting Montevallo up 1-0. Goehring continued to impact the game, this time finding the back of the net herself in the 14
th minute to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 14
th minute. Goehring looked to score her second goal of the game, with another shot that ultimately hit the left post in the 21
st minute. That second goal came four minutes later, as Goehring secured the brace in the 25
th minute to put the Falcons ahead 3-0.
Valdosta State looked to respond, firing its first shot on goal in the 29
th minute, but
Jolie Cazale picked up her first save of the game. The Falcons quickly drove down the field quickly and Goehring recorded her second assist, finding
Ayla Ertekin who scored her first goal as a Falcon in the 30
th minute to extend the lead to 4-0.
The Blazers looked to score right before the half, with a shot on goal in the 42
nd minute, but Cazale recorded her second save, as the Falcons took the 4-0 lead into the break.
Montevallo continued to push out of the break, with
Sierra Nickelberry firing a shot on goal in the 48
th minute, which was saved by the Blazer keeper. Valdosta State responded with a shot on goal of its own a minute later, but Cazale would record her third save to keep VSU off the board. The Falcons held the 4-0 advantage for the remainder of the contest, as Cazale finished the day with five saves and secured her first clean sheet of the season.
