BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced its men's basketball weekly awards with Bryant James earning both Player and Freshman of the Week honors after a 2-0 week for Montevallo.

On the week, James scored an average of 23.0 points per game on a 64.0-percent shooting mark while 57.9 percent from deep and 75.0 percent from the line. The freshman also tallied 3.0 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals in the two games. In a win over Trevecca Nazarene on Jan. 22, James set a career best with 29 points on 10-of-14 from the floor while shooting 6-for-10 from deep with two boards, three assists and a steal in 36 minutes on the floor. In the Falcons win over Lee, James scored 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting with a 5-for-9 mark from deep while adding four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
 
James is the first GSC men's basketball student-athlete to win both Player and Freshman of the Week awards in the same week since Brandon Fussell accomplished the feat on Feb. 27, 2024.
 
James and the Falcons return to action on the road at Mississippi College on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
