CLINTON, Miss. – Katelynn Kott's career day led Montevallo women's soccer to a 4-1 win over Mississippi Christian to improve the Falcons to 10-2-1 on the season.
In the first two minutes after the opening kickoff, Kott tallied her first goal of the day to lift the Falcons to an early 1-0 lead. Just three minutes later, Mississippi Christian's attack knotted the score at 1-1 with efficient offensive action. After
Elise Marquardt nearly beat the MC keeper,
Madysen Legere found her first goal of the season and just the second of her career on an unassisted effort to give Montevallo a 2-1 advantage in the 10
th minute. The Falcons stuck again to make the score 3-1 two minutes later after Kott's second goal of the day off a pass from
Lainey Farabaugh. The two sides traded possession for the final half hour of the first half to head into the break with a 3-1 Montevallo lead.
Out of the break, graduate keeper
Jolie Cazale posted her third save of the day to maintain UM's two-goal lead. After a fourth Cazale stop, Farabaugh tallied Montevallo's fourth goal of the afternoon on the ensuing Falcon possession to stretch the lead to 4-1. In the 64
th minute,
Isabel Dillehay nearly added a fifth but was turned aside. Following a fifth save from Cazale, Montevallo's defense held MC without a shot for the final 18 minutes of the game to give Montevallo its 10
th win of the season.
