MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo acrobatics & tumbling team opened the season on Thursday evening, as the Falcons battled with No. 11 Saint Leo, ultimately falling 259.840-244.565.

Both teams performed well in the Compulsory event, as Saint Leo narrowly finished ahead Montevallo, 36.35-35.90. The Falcons achieved scores over 9.00 in the Pyramid Heat (9.90) and Toss Heat (9.20).

The Lions got off to a hot start in the Acro event and ultimately outscored the Falcons 27.70-24.70. the Falcons best heat came in the Seven-Element, as Lexie Cole, Rilyn McAllister, Ally Torres, and Morgan Wright helped produce a score of 9.20.

Both teams best scores came in the Pyramid event, as the Lions edged the Falcons 29.70-29.05. In this event, Montevallo saw scores of 9.60 in the inversion heat, 9.70 in the synchronized heat, and 9.75 in the open heat.

Montevallo opened the Toss event strong, as Katie Quinn, Ally Torres, Corrine Wilcox, Payton Roach, Zoey Cooper, and Katlyn Smith produced a scored of 8.90 in the 450 salto toss. The Falcons closed the event with scores of 8.35 and 8.15, but the Lions outscored the Falcons 26.05-25.40.

Montevallo's best scores in the Tumbling event came at the end, as Rilyn McAllister scored an 8.475 in the Six-Element and Morgan Wright scored an 8.5000 in the Open Pass. The Lions were strong in the Tumbling event, ultimately scoring a 52.650 compared to Montevallo's score of 46.025.

Montevallo scored an 83.49 in the Team event, while Saint Leo scored an 87.39.
