MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball heads south to take on Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, Feb. 14 to start the final road trip of the regular season.

The Falcons' nonconference schedule completed with a 3-2 record to start the season before Montevallo posted a 4-2 start to conference play with wins over Trevecca Nazarene, Delta State, Mississippi College and Christian Brothers while opening the conference slate with a loss to Lee and closing the early schedule with a loss to Union. The Falcons returned from the holiday break to pick up an 89-62 win over AUM on Jan. 5 before adding a 71-68 win over Alabama Huntsville on Jan. 88. Montevallo dropped back to back meeting with West Alabama and Valdosta State before kicking off a seven-game win streak with a 97-87 win over West Florida on Jan. 17. Montevallo hosted TNU and Lee for consecutive home wins before going out on the road for a 76-54 win over MC and a 76-69 win over Delta State on Jan. 31. Montevallo then topped Union, 97-63, on Feb. 5 before defeating CBU, 75-66, in the Falcons' most recent outing on Feb. 7.
With just five games left on the schedule, Montevallo averages 79.3 points per game on a 47.4-percent clip from the field while shooting 35.8 percent from deep and 75.3 percent from the line. Montevallo on the boards averages 36.0 rebounds per game while posting an average of 15.6 assists per game with just 12.0 turnovers for a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio. Defensively, Montevallo allows 69.2 points per game on a 40.9-percent clip from opponents while holding them to 34.0 rebounds per game and forcing 13.9 turnovers on an average of 9.1 steals per game.
Derek Moore leads the Gulf South Conference with an average of 19.0 points per game on a league-high 62.8-percent field goal mark while adding 7.1 rebounds per game for the seventh highest mark in the GSC.
Brandon Fussell's 2.1 steals per game lead the conference while his 5.3 assists per game rank second among conference leaders with the junior scoring 16.2 points per game on a 43.6-percent shooting mark.
Jaylen Curry ranks third on the squad with an average of 12.5 points per game with a 49.0-percent clip from the floor while adding an average of 5.5 rebounds per game.
Auburn Montgomery holds a 5-18 overall record heading into Saturday's contest with the Falcons after opening the season with a 2-4 record in nonconference action. The Warhawks took four consecutive losses to open conference play with defeats against TNU, Lee, MC, and DSU before picking up a 74-71 win over Union on Dec. 18 for the first conference win of the season. AUM then went on a seven-game skid dropping meetings against CBU, Montevallo, No. 14 UWA, UAH, Wets Florida, Valdosta State, Lee and Delta State for an 0-6 start to the new year. AUM picked up back-to-back wins over Mississippi College and Christian Brothers on Jan. 31 and Feb. 5, respectively. The Warhawks then fell to Union, 71-64, on Feb. 7 before falling to Trevecca Nazarene, 85-77, on Feb. 11 in AUM's most recent outing.
AUM averages 70.6 points per game on a 41.8-percent shooting mark while adding a 32.9-percent clip from long range and 66.9 percent from the free-throw line. On the glass, the Warhawks average 33.0 rebounds per game while posting an average of 10.2 assists per game while giving away 11.3 turnovers per game for a 0.9 assist-to-turnover ratio. Defensively, AUM allows 81.0 points per game on a 45.6-percent shooting mark while allowing an average of 41.1 rebounds per game while forcing 11.2 turnovers per game with an average of 6.8 steals.
Chappelle Whitney leads the team with an average of 17.7 points per game with a 45.6-percent shooting mark while adding an average of 6.0 rebounds per game. Marius Canery ranks second on the squad with an average of 12.8 points per game, shooting 37.9 percent from the floor and 34.6 percent from deep while adding 3.1 rebounds per game and 1.8 assists. Colby Williams leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per game while scoring 11.5 points for the third and final double-digit scorer for the Warhawks.
